What are social media templates & why should you use them?
Social Media Templates (and templates for just about anything else) are on the rise. You can find sets of Social Media Templates just about anywhere!
Some of the biggest names in online-biz have versions of them (like Jenna Kutcher!), you can buy them on any design marketplace (my fav being Creative Market) and we even recently launched our own line. You could even create your own line of Social Media Templates for your brand that you can use over and over.
Great, so you can get them just about anywhere, in any style, for a variety of prices! But the question is, why would you? What really are they for, and why should you get them?
Today Iβm going to break that all down for you, so letβs get started!
βοΈ They help you build a cohesive and professional online presence
You might not realise how important this is, but take it from me β a professional designer who has worked in the online business space for a long time β having a consistent, cohesive brand is going to help people take you seriously and build legitimacy and trust with your audience.
When you purchase a bundle of Social Media Templates, they (should) all have a cohesive and matching style. This makes it SO easy to keep all of your social media graphics βon-brandβ and consistent.
If you look at any successful online entrepreneur, you will see that they have consistency across their branding. And if youβve been following them on social media for a while, you will actually start to recognize their brand style and graphics before you even know itβs their post! This consistency is so key when building a brand.
If youβre designing your Social Media graphics from scratch every time, you wonβt be able to get that cohesive, professional look across your platforms. Having a set of Social Media Templates ready to use for any platform graphic will help you achieve this.
β±οΈ They save you time
Templates will save you SO much time. It is so much faster to update a template design, than it is to design something from scratch every time.
Whether you purchase Social Media Templates from a designer, or you make your own to use in the future, either way, you totally should be using them (I am constantly using templates for my Social Media and Blog!).
Itβs such a big time saver having everything already set up to go. You can just open up the file, add in your text and images, and itβs done.
Editing a template might take 5 minutes. Designing a graphic from scratch would probably take at least 30minutes. That adds up, really fast!
And I can bet that you donβt have that much time to spare, or that your precious time would be spent better elsewhere (like, doing actual money making activities for your business!)
π° They save you money
Social Media Templates are SO inexpensive. For how much time they save you (time = money after all) they are totally worth it.
But maybe youβre not worried about the time factor, maybe youβre thinking you will outsource your design to a Social Media designerβ¦
If you compare the cost of templates to hiring a professional designer to design your Social Media for you, itβs a HUGE difference.
Hiring someone to design your Social Media every month would cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. And while some businesses can afford that, Iβm going to go ahead and assume that if youβre reading this blog post, itβs probably not in your budget (itβs for sure not in ours!)
And itβs not a priority. Because Social Media Templates make it so quick and easy to do the design ourselves, why would we spend all of that money to hire someone? That money is better spent in an area where we canβt use templates. Iβm sure you can think of an area in your business where hundreds or even thousands of dollars is better spent every month.
Pro tip: If you really do want to hire someone to create graphics for your Social Media, why not hire them once and get them to design an epic suite of Social Media templates that you can use over and over again β this will save you a lot of money in the long run!
π¨ They turn you into a pro-designer
Maybe design isnβt your forte, and thatβs totally fine, Iβm sure you have other things that youβre a pro at.
Because youβre an entrepreneur, youβre probably teaching yourself how to do a million other things right now (Iβve been there, trust me!). It can be all a bit much when youβre taking on the roll of a designer, a copywriter, a web developer, a social media guru, an email marketer, and everything else in between that makes your business tick.
But sometimes you just donβt have a choice, you have to do your own Social Media Graphics (even if youβre self confessed βallergic to designβ)
The great thing about Social Media Templates is that they are designed by professional designers (well, they should be! Make sure you always read reviews and buy off people you trust!) This means that you donβt have to waste time learning to be a pro-designer, you can be one in a matter of minutes.
Templates are SO easy. Download the designs, input your text, brand colors and images. Upload to your Social Media. Boom! Done. No having to worry about if they look good or what to put where, all of that tricky design stuff is done for you already.
Pro tip: If you are especially allergic to design and want the easiest possible option, we recommend templates that come in Canva format! Canva is a free online design tool that is SO easy to use. Try to stay away from any templates that come in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or Indesign, these programs are better suited for professional designers.
