What do you do/what is your business?: I'm a wedding and elopement videographer. I craft raw, genuine, and emotional films for the two-becoming-ones.
What or who inspires you the most?: Such a tough question! I think in the wedding industry, it's really easy to get caught up in the self-comparison pool of who is doing what, so it's been an active effort for me to remind myself to focus on the work I want to create and why I create it. In the most humble way possible, my inspiration is myself — the filmmaker I want to be. I find that I grow the most when I am focusing on my work, expanding my creativity, diving deeper into my business, and creating lasting relationships with my couples. It's far more beneficial for me to invest time in those things, then to sit and scroll watching wedding films created by my idols wondering if I'm good enough. It's kinda funny how social media works — it's important to build your presence, but not get caught up in the game.
What template did you purchase?: Unearth
Why did you choose that particular template?: I wanted a template that felt fresh, modern, captivating, and immersive. Unearth was definitely that for me. It brings visual interest and playfulness without competing with the imagery, and that was super important to me as a filmmaker! It was the perfect foundation to build from and customize as my own.
Why did you want a new website?: It wasn't even a want at this point, it was a NEED. My previous website was a few years old, and it was the initial website I used to launch my business. It was ok, but I really needed to bring my website to a new level. My business has grown over the years, and it was time my site reflected that growth and speak better to my brand and my voice. So I finally got over my fear and just did it!
Why did you choose to purchase one of my templates, rather than a competitors?: I was searching for something that didn't feel like everything else — something fresh and fun. I knew I wanted to use Squarespace as my platform, and I was so drawn to the fact that these templates are made specifically for that. The process didn't seem complicated, and I felt well-informed as to what I was getting myself into before even making the purchase. You actually build the template yourself and gain a lot of knowledge through the process about how to personalize it and make it exactly how you want. Once I found these templates, it was no question for me!
How did you feel before you created your new website?: To be completely honest, I wasn't very confident, but I knew I wanted to create it myself. I was intimated, but so excited for something new, and Big Cat Creative's step by step process eliminated that fear for me immediately.
How do you feel now that you have launched your new site?: So so happy! I love knowing that when potential couples visit my new site, they are getting an accurate representation of me and who Blnk Films is. I dumped a lot of love into creating my new site, and I'm so excited and confident to continue adding to it.
How do you think your business is going to benefit from your new website?: The money I invested into this template is going to payback tenfold. It's so important to have a website that speaks well to your brand personality, and I think my new site will only benefit me because of that. I feel more professional, confident, and excited to grow my business knowing that I have my new site to direct traffic to.
How did you find the whole Squarespace Template process from purchase to launch?: It couldn't have been easier, I truly mean that. It was so informational and goes through EVERY single step without skipping a thing. I found myself halfway through feeling comfortable to just take the reigns and have fun with it. Seriously, anyone can do it!!
What's your fav series on Netflix right now?: Ozark is seriously binge-worthy, and New Girl is always a fave :)
